The simple things in life are green

For as long as I can remember green has always been my favourite colour. It's the first colour I notice.

I was always in the "green" team at school and usually only won "green" ribbons. Perhaps I did that on purpose so I could adorn myself with more of my favourite colour.

I was married in green, love emeralds, trees, leaves, grass....anything and everything that is green.

I own about 45 green necklaces, 8 green scarves, a couple of green hats and loads of green clothes.

If I could I'd surround myself with green everyday!!! And luckily for me "green" now encompasses all things sustainable - a principal I subscribe to and believe others should too.

So what is it about green?

To me it is the sense of peace and calm it carries. It relaxes me and makes me smile. It's fresh and uplifting and seems to seep into my soul in a tranquil kind of way. If only I could float on a cloud of green - a soft fluffy serene oasis!

To honour the colour that fills my senses and lifts my spirit I have decided to dedicate a blog to it's beauty.

Within it I will endeavour to write about and show off my love of all things green. I hope, especially for all you green lovers out there, it inspires and uplifts you.

And so I begin with the first green thing I see - a bunch of green magnetic alphabet letters stuck to the fridge. Interestingly I did not put this collection here - it seems as though my 2 year old daughter might also be attracted to green. She appears to have grouped only green letters together up high on the fridge. And to a green lover like me I see beauty in this picture!! But not only that - it's the first thing I see in our kitchen and it makes me smile - it's true!

I wonder if it's the same for others - do individuals always gravitate towards a certain colour; notice certain colours before and beyond others? I most certainly do. In fact I doubt any purple lovers out there would have even noticed this cute little "green" composition on our fridge. But to me it stands out like a neon light (a green one that is).

What's your favourite colour and how does it orbit your world?

It was a very lengthy process deciding on two different green throw cushions for my bed (plus a white sequin one). One of the first things mum taught me about painting trees is how the shadow & light create different shades of green within the one green tree. So yes I look outside & I see all the different greens around me. Ok I'll stop now.
